Postdoctoral Position in Classical and Quantum Theory of Gravity,
APCTP, Pohang, Korea:
Applications are invited for one or two postdoctoral positions in the Junior Research Group “Classical and Quantum Theory of Gravity” headed by Prof. Dong-han Yeom, which will be newly established from September of 2017, at the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP), Pohang, Korea.
APCTP (https://www.apctp.org), founded in 1996, is a non-governmental organization aiming for an international center dedicated to excellence in research and the training of young scientists in the Asia-Pacific region. APCTP offers a great research environment with strong connections to a number of active theoretical and experimental research groups at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). APCTP has broad international agreements with many leading institutions around the globe for scientific exchanges.
Research interests of this group include the following topics:
Ø Classical and semi-classical investigations of black holes
Ø Euclidean quantum gravity and applications to quantum cosmology
Ø Modified gravity and applications to physical cosmology
Ø Numerical study of dynamical black holes and their astrophysical implications
In addition, we encourage applicants for broad interests of research topics, including various approaches to quantum gravity, string theory, quantum field theory, gravitational physics, and cosmology. Especially, applicants with good numerical (computer programming) skills are highly recommended.
The initial appointment is for one year and extendable up to three years depending on research performances and funding situations. The starting date of the appointment is negotiable but should be no ‘earlier’ than the 1st of October of 2017.
Please send your application package including your cover letter, curriculum vitae, publication list, and research proposal to [email protected] by the 30th of April, 2017. The applicant should also arrange for two recommendation letters to the same e-mail address.
